Like It Equine are an online equestrian retailer who aim to make the whole online equestrian retail experience more akin to the advantages of ‘brick-and-mortar retail store shopping’ but with the convenience and comfort of doing everything from your armchair at home.
About Like It Equine
Like It Equine is a small, family company marketing and retailing some of the finest brands in equestrian apparel and equipment whilst offering superior value to the online (armchair) customer.
Started in 2022 when duo Stuart Cannon and Kay Murray decided to marry up their professional skills of marketing, retail, and project management with their lifelong passion for horses to bring a shopping experience with the hands-on, customer focused appeal of ‘bricks and mortar shops’, to online equestrian e-commerce.
Stuart and Kay are joined in their business by Jolie and Areion, the equine Brand Ambassadors and often consumer critics and models.
The Like It Equine Ethos
After a pandemic and Brexit forcing the entire retail and consumer community in the UK to do things very differently, both Stuart and Kay felt that many offerings could be improved upon, made easier, made more accessible and made more cost effective to the UK shopper.
Their aim with their business is to not only make the whole online experience more akin to the advantages of ‘brick-and-mortar retail store shopping’ but with the convenience and comfort of doing everything from your armchair at home.
Our Marketing Strategy
We will use the brands’ polished media (both imagery and video) to create trust, quality, value, familiarity, and desire.
We will balance the brand artwork with our own bespoke multimedia to creatively use pictures and words augment the armchair customer’s experience by replacing the ‘in-person’ senses of touch and smell.
We will also show our superior availability expectations to start to align with the brick and mortar shop…..’in your hands tomorrow’.
Our eCommerce Platform
Our eCommerce platform will use a minimalist style to make the discovery and purchase user flow smooth and make it as easy as possible to transition from visitor to customer.
This style will allow both the brands’ professional imagery and ours to flourish and our focus on video is not just product focused, but with our customers as well.
Video reviews will be at the forefront of our strategy to gain social proof from our own customers, providing real-life feedback in a way that text can’t alone.
We will utilise our equine experience to provide detailed descriptions about the products we sell to give equestrians exactly what they need to know to feel confident about buying.
We will encourage a sense of FOMO with each sale by creating unique daily deal adverts to drive customers in.
Utilising our contacts from our media background, we would look to generate innovative and newsworthy editorials to provide to the wider press community. This may also be in the form of PR Newswire Cision releases.
Our eCommerce platform will be built using the leading eCommerce solution, WooCommerce which has a 23.43% global market share (according to Statista) and hosted on a cloud VPS which allows us to expand our platform as we grow.
To ensure speed and security, we will utilise Cloudflare (which is used by over 7.5 million websites) for its WAF (Web Application Firewall) to prevent known bots and protect the admin area before they even access the site in combination with Nginx Rules to prevent access to sensitive WordPress directories and the WordFence firewall for the WordPress application level.
For speed, we use Cloudflare’s APO (Automatic Platform Optimisation) service to cache both static and dynamic queries at the edge.
Our SEO Strategy
Our SEO strategy will leverage keyword analysis to optimise on-page SEO by tailoring our content to high volume, low-competition keywords in the online equestrian retailer industry.
By setting meta titles, descriptions, Open Meta Graph tags and Schema for all our products, pages and news, our content will be optimised to be shared on social media and discovered organically through Google Search.
We will be able to monitor, analyse and tailor our approach to current trends by utilising Google Search Console and Plausible Analytics to ensure our website analytics solution is UK-GPDR compliant and respects the privacy of our users.
